Bob and June Carson have turned the love of classic cars into a museum that is fascinating and fun to visit. Wetmore, Kansas is a beautiful, quaint town in Northeast Kansas that welcomes you to visit.
The Carsons are longtime residents of Wetmore, Kansas. They owned and operated the JBN Telephone Co. from 1955-1987, and held the majority interest in Carson Communications from its inception in 1999 until its sale to Rainbow Communications in 2005. They got the idea to restore the old Texaco station and Chrysler/Plymouth dealership after seeing a restored filling station in Clinton, Missouri. Instead of just storing their classic vehicles in the old buildings, they built an attraction to benefit the town.
A fully restored 1945 Dodge four-compartment petroleum distribution truck is parked outside the gas station just as it did many years ago. Future plans include finding a suitable wrecker/tow vehicle. Old photographs and oral histories are part of the research Carson has done to turn the old buildings into a beautiful museum. Bob and June have traveled the country to acquire the correct furnishings and signage. The Carsons welcome you to Wetmore, Kansas.
